House Rewire in Chester

full house rewire

House renovation

In September this year we where asked to rewire a house by a local builder.  He was asked to complete some renovation work at a house in Chester.  There was a few jobs that needed to be completed.  The electrical work involved was to carry out a full rewire.  A new heating system was installed by the plumber.  The old chimney breasts where knocked down to allow make the rooms bigger and new kitchen and bathrooms where fitted.

Rewire of the house

We started the electrical work by lifting the floor boards upstairs.  Once we had access the old wiring was removed.  Then all of the old sockets, lights etc where disconnected and removed.  The old cables that had previously been installed where ‘notched’ into the joists, this is not the prefered method nowadays.  The joists where drilled so the new cables could be fed through the joists instead of in the ‘notches’.

New electrical circuits have been installed in to each room.  There was a ring circuit inbstalled in the kitchen and two radial circuits installed for the bedrooms and the lounge / diner.  Two lighting circuits have been installed, upstairs lights and downstairs lights.

All of the cables where chased into the walls and secured with capping and oval conduit to protect them.  After all of the wiring was completed the plastering was done.

After the house rewire was finished the new installation was tested

All of the new circuits where now tested.  The ring continuity was checked and all radials tested.  Insulation resistance was checked and finally earth loop impedance reading were taken.

The customer was given the electrical installation certificate and the part p notification.
